Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender were in Israel on an official visit on 26 and 27 November. They were accompanied on the trip by the President of the German Bundestag, Bärbel Bas.
In Jerusalem, the Federal President met Israeli President Isaac Herzog for political talks on the first day of his visit. The Federal President also spoke to relatives of German hostages. On the second day of his trip, Federal President Steinmeier and President Herzog visited Be’eri kibbutz in the south of the country close to the Gaza Strip, where they talked to former residents. Back in Jerusalem, the Federal President visited the Augusta Victoria Hospital, where Germany is supporting the treatment of Palestinians suffering from cancer.
In the evening, the Federal President and Elke Büdenbender traveled on to the Sultanate of Oman.
