State visit to Zambia

The Federal President payed a state visit to the Republic of Zambia from 1 to 3 November. In the capital Lusaka, he met President Hakainde Hichilema for political talks and spoke to representatives of Zambian civil society. On the second day of his visit, he first visited the Fountain Gate Crafts & Trades School and then traveled on to Livingstone for a tour of the water extraction plant on the Zambezi River as well as a visit to the Victoria Falls and the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.

Federal President Steinmeier is welcomed with military honours by the President of the Republic of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier payed a state visit to the Republic of Zambia from 1 to 3 November.

In the capital Lusaka, he met President Hakainde Hichilema for political talks and spoke to representatives of Zambian civil society.

On the second day of his visit, the Federal President first visited the Fountain Gate Crafts & Trades School, a vocational college in which the Chamber of Skilled Crafts of Frankfurt-Rhine-Main is involved. The Federal President then traveled on to Livingstone where he had a tour of the water extraction plant on the Zambezi River, a German development cooperation project, as well as a visit to the Victoria Falls and the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. There, the Federal President talked to experts about nature and wildlife protection. The state visit to Zambia was the first time a German Federal President visited the country.

Prior to his trip to Zambia, the Federal President had visited the United Republic of Tanzania.
