On October 6, the Federal President met with U.S. President Biden for talks in Washington. In a joint statement, they said: "Our partnership is essential to our efforts to address global challenges, from climate change and food insecurity to the defense of human rights and democracy. And our alliance is critical for our continuing efforts to support the people of Ukraine and their courageous defense of their country, their freedom, and their future."
Federal President Steinmeier traveled this Friday to Washington, D.C., at the invitation of the President of the United States of America, Joseph R. Biden. President Biden has proposed the German-American Day on October 6, for the visit. It was the first meeting between the two as heads of state.
On German-American Day, Federal President Steinmeier and U.S. President Biden released a joint statement emphasizing the friendship between the two countries.
