Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender were in Warsaw on 19 April to take part in the memorial ceremony to mark the eightieth anniversary of the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto, at the invitation of Polish President Andrzej Duda, together with Israeli President Isaac Herzog. President Duda had invited Federal President Steinmeier to give a commemorative speech before the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes, making him the first German state guest to do so.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender were in Warsaw on 19 April to take part in the memorial ceremony to mark the eightieth anniversary of the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto, at the invitation of Polish President Andrzej Duda, together with Israeli President Isaac Herzog. President Duda had invited Federal President Steinmeier to give a commemorative speech before the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes, making him the first German state guest to do so.

The Federal President also attended a religious service in the Nożyk Synagogue in the afternoon and held bilateral talks with President Duda and President Herzog.

The day of remembrance ended with an evening concert featuring Israeli and Polish musicians given by the National Opera at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw.
