Federal President Steinmeier visited North Macedonia from 29 November to 1 December.
The trip focused on the situation in the region, the impact of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine and Germany's ongoing support for the country’s EU accession perspectives.
This was Federal President Steinmeier's first visit to the Republic of North Macedonia. Political talks were planned in the capital Skopje on 29 and 30 November inter alia with President Pendarovski and Prime Minister Kovachevski, and the Federal President gave a speech at the parliament. Furthermore, the Federal President met young people at the Presidential Center for Political Education, talked to filmmakers about the North Macedonian film Honeyland and visited the country's first wind park in Bogdanci.
The Federal President traveled onwards to the Republic of Albania.
