Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier visited the Republic of Latvia on 20 and 21 June.
On 20 June, the Federal President attended the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit in Riga. This initiative brings together twelve EU member states located between the Adriatic, the Baltic and the Black Sea. Germany is a 3SI partner country.
On 21 June, Federal President Steinmeier and the President of the Republic of Latvia, Egils Levits, attended a special service at St Peter’s Church. St Peter’s is the parish church of the German-speaking congregation in Latvia, which is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Latvia. The service celebrated the transfer of St Peter’s to a church foundation established in the autumn of 2021.
