The Federal President paid a state visit to Indonesia from 15 to 18 June. In the capital Jakarta, he met with President Joko Widodo for political talks. He also took part in an expert meeting to learn more about topics including Indonesia’s work in the fields of environment, climate and energy. In Yogyakarta, he explored Indonesia’s cultural heritage and visited the Borobudur Temple Compounds.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier paid a state visit to the Republic of Indonesia from 15 to 18 June. Indonesia holds the 2022 Presidency of the G20, the leading industrialised and emerging countries.

In the capital Jakarta, the Federal President met with President Joko Widodo for political talks. He also took part in an expert meeting to learn more about topics including Indonesia’s work in the fields of environment, climate and energy. During a visit to the German School Jakarta, he talked with pupils of various schools from the initiative Schools: Partners for the Future and with members of the Indonesian and German business communities.

In Yogyakarta, he explored Indonesia’s cultural heritage and visited the Borobudur Temple Compounds. The Federal President also explored Indonesia’s modern art scene with a visit to the collective art project Monumen Antroposen at the national gallery in Yogyakarta. In addition, he met the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, and thereafter the Sultan of Yogyakarta, Hamengkubuwono X, for talks.

Prior to this visit, the Federal President was in the Republic of Singapore from 13 to 15 June.
