Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier travelled to Ljubljana on 30 May for an official visit. In the Slovenian capital, he met the Presidents of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, and the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, for talks on the EU Trio Council Presidency of Germany, Portugal and Slovenia. The three countries have consecutive Council Presidencies for six months.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier travelled to Ljubljana on 30 May for an official visit. In the Slovenian capital, he met the Presidents of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, and the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, for talks on the EU Trio Council Presidency of Germany, Portugal and Slovenia.

The three countries have consecutive Council Presidencies for six months. On 1 January 2021, Germany passed the Presidency of the EU Council to Portugal and Slovenia is due to take over on 1 July 2021. The three Presidents also discussed current European issues and the situation in the Western Balkans.
