Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from 27 to 29 January. The main aim of their visit was to pay tribute to the close ties between Jordan and Germany.
During their visit, the Federal President and Ms Büdenbender attended a lunch with King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. During talks with start up entrepreneurs in King Hussein Business Park and students at the German Jordanian University, the focus was on Jordan’s approach to the opportunities and challenges presented by the spread of digital technology.
The Federal President also visited the refugee camp in Azraq and Al Quds School, a double shift school where Jordanian children are taught in the morning and refugee children in the afternoon. His programme included meetings with culture professionals and representatives of civil society. At the end of his visit, the Federal President visited the Bundeswehr contingent stationed in Jordan.
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender traveled on to the Lebanese Republic, where they will stay from 29 to 31 January.
